Who decided to beat the Silverado with the ugly stick until their arm fell off???

The black masks a lot of the ugly. The silver is painful to look at.

This gen is a truly awful truck, and I've spent a lot of time in 2006-09 Dodges.

It’s not ugly.
It's bold. Dynamic. Strength-inspiring.

Also dick measuring.
Look, we added another row of grille! 1 bazillion lbs of towing capacity! A new 8.01 foot bed for those really long loads!

I wonder if the same person who designed the Aztec still works for GM somewhere. That seems preferable to this.

Haha, you said “load”

Classic GM design by committee. It always (read: never fucking ever) works!

I’d be surprised if any of those have an 8' bed. Bed length is clearly not key factor for pickup measuring these days.

The guy that did the Aztek later one of the corvette generations. Talent is nothing if you can’t manage it.

As long as i can still tow as much as a peterbilt It should still be ok.

Bold? Yes.
Dynamic ? No.
Strength inspiring? More like inspiring me to gouge my eyes out, but you can’t unsee what you already have seen .

As well as letting GMC get the better looking truck by far. The HD Sierra looks SO much better than that, especially in AT4 form.
Yes, PLEASE!

The GMC looks meh. The Chevy looks like a friggin abortion.

Besides the looks, what makes them so awful? Just curious, because the looks alone would keep me from buying one.

First and foremost, the interior. The lack of storage is appalling. It’s a work truck, storage is needed, yet they felt the need to make some storage compartments available on the higher trims, like the center console. But it gets worse! Remember in the early 2000's when Dodge caught flak for covering over the cup holders and the opening of the console? Well they’ve done something worse. Much like the blank switch that goes where the already programmed in cruise control buttons go, they designed a cover to go in the place of the handle on the console. You can see the lid, you can feel the space, but you can’t open it.
Secondly, the incredibly dated drivetrain. The transmission and throttle tuning were done by someone who has never driven a car before. Like in our Colorado, there is a solid 1 second between the time you press the throttle and the engine responds. After driving around in a Ram for a while, the 6-speed is inexcuseable. It’s never in the right gear. The 4.3 also feels somehow exactly like the old one, in that it is faster when you aren’t at WOT. Except it has 100 more hp, and it will not maintain speed at all.
Thirdly, the 4.3 has somehow been made to sound worse. It sounds like a cross between a humans death rattle before they die, and a child moaning in pain. I am in no way making light of how bad it sounds.
